Job Overview

The Capital Hotels & Apartments is looking for an experienced Food & Beverage Supervisor to join its team in Umhlanga. This permanent position is ideal for hospitality professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences while leading a team in a fast-paced hotel environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the restaurant, bars, room service, conferencing, and functions. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, the supervisor will ensure that all food and beverage services operate efficiently, guests receive outstanding service, and company standards are consistently maintained. In the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager, the successful candidate will oversee and manage the department.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to supervise and coordinate the hotel’s Food & Beverage operations while ensuring excellent customer service, efficient team performance, and smooth day-to-day operations across all food service areas.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Supervise daily restaurant, bar, room service, conferencing, and function operations.
  • Support and assist the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Manage Food & Beverage operations in the manager’s absence.
  • Lead and motivate the Food & Beverage team.
  • Ensure excellent customer service at all times.
  • Resolve guest queries and complaints professionally.
  • Monitor service quality and operational standards.
  • Coordinate staff duties and daily activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, presentation, and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and health and safety procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • Hospitality qualification or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years’ Food & Beverage supervisory experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional appearance and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
