As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, doctors, and other stakeholders, the Receptionist plays an essential role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient admissions, answering telephone enquiries, handling administrative duties, processing payments, maintaining patient records, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience from arrival to admission.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • Computer literacy

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Advantageous

  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
  • SAP ISH experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Knowledge of medical aid benefits and procedures

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Welcoming patients, visitors, doctors, and stakeholders professionally
  • Assisting patients with admissions and online pre-admissions
  • Capturing and updating patient information accurately on the SAP system
  • Verifying medical aid, insurance, and personal information
  • Collecting deposits, co-payments, and processing receipts
  • Obtaining admission authorisations where required
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately
  • Assisting patients with the Netcare Mobile App and digital platforms
  • Managing confidential patient information in accordance with hospital policies
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming reception area
  • Recording messages accurately and transferring calls promptly
  • Assisting with general administrative duties and reception support
  • Participating in team meetings and maintaining effective communication with colleagues
  • Ensuring compliance with Netcare policies, procedures, and quality standards
