The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that the yard and surrounding operational areas remain clean, organised, and free from hazards. By maintaining high housekeeping standards, the Yard Cleaner will help create a safe and efficient workplace for employees, visitors, and customers while supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the business.
📝 Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Sweeping and cleaning all yard areas, loading bays, walkways, and external workspaces.
- Removing litter, dust, debris, and spillages from the yard and surrounding areas.
- Collecting, separating, and disposing of general waste and recyclable materials according to company procedures.
- Cleaning loading docks, storage areas, and equipment located within the yard.
- Emptying or replacing waste bins and skips when required.
- Keeping drainage channels and stormwater systems free from debris to prevent blockages.
- Reporting damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, and maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Assisting warehouse and operations teams with general housekeeping duties when needed.
- Safely operating cleaning tools and equipment while ensuring they are kept in good working condition.
- Following all company health, safety, environmental, and housekeeping policies.
- Wearing and maintaining the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Performing any other reasonable duties assigned by management to support business operations.
✅ Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
- A clean criminal record.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Between 2 and 3 years’ experience working as a Yard Cleaner or in a similar cleaning or maintenance role.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
- A reliable, honest, and responsible work ethic.
