About the Opportunity
Curro, one of South Africa’s leading independent school providers, is seeking a qualified and passionate Temp English Home Language and Life Orientation Teacher (FET Phase) to join Curro DigiED Victory Park in Johannesburg.
This part-time contract position is ideal for an experienced educator who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and creating a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will teach English Home Language and Life Orientation in the Further Education and Training (FET) Phase while supporting learners’ academic, personal, and social development through innovative teaching methods aligned with the Curro curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning and presenting engaging English Home Language and Life Orientation lessons.
- Preparing lesson plans using modern teaching tools and digital resources.
- Developing and implementing term plans in line with the Curro curriculum.
- Monitoring learner progress and adjusting teaching strategies where necessary.
- Designing differentiated learning activities to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Conducting baseline assessments to evaluate learner knowledge.
- Making recommendations regarding subject choices and remedial support.
- Managing classroom discipline and creating a positive learning environment.
- Setting, marking, moderating, and supervising formal and continuous assessments.
- Assigning and reviewing homework.
- Communicating learner progress with parents and guardians.
- Providing extra lessons and one-on-one academic support when required.
- Planning and supervising extracurricular activities, outings, and school events.
- Maintaining accurate academic records and preparing learner reports.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree and/or PGCE in FET Phase Education.
- Honours degree in Education (relevant subject) will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching in the FET Phase.
- Sound knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
- Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Clear criminal record.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and report-writing abilities.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.
