Job Overview

As a Shop Assistant/Cashier, you will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers by delivering outstanding service at the point of sale while supporting daily store operations. You will be responsible for accurately processing customer purchases, promoting the Clicks ClubCard programme, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring the store remains clean, organised, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant/Cashier, your duties will include:
- Operate the point of sale (POS) efficiently and accurately.
- Scan merchandise and process customer payments.
- Handle cash responsibly and follow company cash-handling procedures.
- Process Clicks ClubCard rewards and benefits correctly.
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard programme and register new members.
- Inform customers about current promotions and special offers.
- Deliver friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
- Assist customers with product enquiries and recommendations.
- Maintain merchandising displays according to company standards.
- Ensure shelves are neat, stocked, and well presented.
- Perform general housekeeping duties throughout the store.
- Keep up to date with products, promotions, and store events.
- Follow company policies and operational procedures.
- Support the store team in achieving sales and customer service targets.
- Contribute to creating a positive shopping environment for customers.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) (Essential).
- Mathematics (50%) at Grade 12 level (Advantageous).
- English (50%) at Grade 12 level (Advantageous).
- Previous customer service or retail experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Understanding of customer service principles.
- Basic knowledge of merchandising and stock management.
