Job Overview
Boxer Superstores is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Barista to join its Head Office Café in Westville, Durban. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of high-quality coffees, teas, and other hot beverages while delivering excellent customer service in a professional and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will prepare beverages according to company standards while ensuring every order is served accurately, efficiently, and with consistent quality. Whether serving a simple cup of coffee or a speciality beverage, attention to detail and a passion for quality will be essential.
In addition to beverage preparation, you will provide friendly and professional customer service by welcoming customers, taking orders accurately, answering questions about menu items, and ensuring each visitor receives prompt and courteous service. Building positive relationships with customers through a warm and approachable attitude is an important part of the position.
The role also includes cashier responsibilities, requiring the successful candidate to operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process payments accurately, perform daily cash-ups, and assist with banking procedures. Previous cash handling experience will be beneficial, as maintaining financial accuracy is an important part of daily operations.
Stock management is another key responsibility. You will monitor stock levels, assist with weekly stock counts, ensure ingredients remain fresh, and make sure products are stored correctly according to food safety standards. You will also help keep displays attractive and ensure products are always available for customers.
Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards is essential in this role. You will be expected to keep the café clean, sanitise workstations, follow food handling procedures, and maintain housekeeping standards throughout every shift. A clean and organised work environment helps ensure both customer satisfaction and compliance with health and safety regulations.
As part of the café team, you may also assist with basic food preparation and support colleagues during busy periods to ensure smooth daily operations. Teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to assist wherever needed are highly valued.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

- Up to 2 years’ experience as a Barista or in a similar café environment.
