Programme Overview
Clicks Group is inviting applications from unemployed young South Africans for its Youth Employment Programme in Durban. This programme has been created to give young people the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while developing practical retail skills within one of South Africa’s leading health and beauty retailers.
The Youth Employment Programme combines structured classroom learning with practical on-the-job training in a real Clicks retail store. Participants will receive both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, allowing them to develop the skills needed to work confidently in the retail industry. The programme is designed to prepare unemployed youth for future employment by equipping them with recognised workplace skills and valuable industry experience.
Throughout the programme, participants will work alongside experienced retail professionals who will provide guidance, coaching, and practical support. Learners will gain exposure to daily retail operations, customer service, point-of-sale (POS) procedures, merchandising, stock handling, and general store operations while learning how a successful retail business operates.
One of the major benefits of this programme is that successful participants will receive an NQF Level 2 Checkout Operator Occupational Qualification upon completion. This nationally recognised qualification strengthens participants’ CVs and improves their employability within the retail sector and related industries.
The programme is ideal for young people who have recently completed Matric and are looking for an opportunity to gain practical work experience while earning an accredited qualification. It is also suitable for individuals who have struggled to secure employment due to limited workplace experience.
Participants will develop essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, customer service, professionalism, problem-solving, and time management. They will also learn how to operate within a busy retail environment while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining the high standards associated with the Clicks brand.
Successful applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work well with others. Since the programme includes both classroom-based learning and practical workplace experience, participants should be committed to completing all learning activities and maintaining a professional attitude throughout the programme.
Clicks is committed to investing in the future of South African youth by creating opportunities that improve employability and contribute to long-term career development. The Youth Employment Programme serves as an excellent stepping stone for young people wishing to build careers in retail, customer service, FMCG, and related industries.
