Job Overview
Phakisa Holdings (Pty) Ltd is currently recruiting a skilled and dependable Code 14 Driver to join its operations team in Durban – Westville, KwaZulu-Natal. This is a fixed-term contractor opportunity ideally suited to an experienced heavy vehicle driver who has a strong commitment to road safety, customer service, and efficient deliveries.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in the transportation and distribution of goods to customers, warehouses, distribution centres, and, where required, cross-border destinations. This position requires an individual who is highly responsible, safety-conscious, and capable of managing delivery schedules while complying with all traffic regulations and company operating procedures.
As a Code 14 Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy commercial vehicles safely and professionally while ensuring that deliveries are completed accurately and on time. Every trip must be planned carefully to maximise efficiency, reduce delays, and ensure customer satisfaction. You will work closely with the operations and dispatch teams to coordinate delivery schedules, receive route instructions, and communicate any delivery challenges or road incidents.
Vehicle safety is a key part of this role. Before every trip, you will be expected to perform comprehensive pre-trip vehicle inspections to identify any mechanical faults or safety concerns. At the end of each journey, post-trip inspections must also be completed to ensure that the vehicle remains in good operating condition. Any defects, breakdowns, accidents, or maintenance issues must be reported immediately to the appropriate personnel.
In addition to transporting goods, you will be responsible for ensuring that all cargo is loaded, secured, transported, and offloaded safely to prevent damage or loss during transit. Maintaining accurate documentation is equally important. Drivers will be expected to complete delivery notes, proof-of-delivery documents, trip sheets, logbooks, and other transport-related records accurately and on time.
The role requires someone who is organised, dependable, and able to work independently while maintaining excellent communication with customers, warehouse staff, dispatch personnel, and management. Professional conduct is expected at all times, as drivers represent both Phakisa Holdings and its clients during deliveries.
This position is ideal for experienced Code 14 drivers who have a proven record of safe driving, excellent time management, and the ability to work under pressure while consistently meeting delivery deadlines. Candidates must be available to start immediately and possess all the required licences and documentation needed to operate heavy commercial vehicles legally.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy vehicle driving and deliveries.
- Clean criminal record.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of road traffic regulations.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Must be available to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities
As a Driver Code 14, your responsibilities will include:
