Macsteel Tube & Pipe is seeking a hardworking, energetic, and reliable General Assistant (Grade H) to join its production team in Macsteel City, Elandsfontein, Gauteng. As a General Assistant, you will support daily warehouse and production operations by assisting with stock handling, loading and off-loading materials, housekeeping, stock control, and ensuring a safe and productive working environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are team players, willing to learn, and prepared to work overtime when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4 or Higher Certificate) is essential.
- Product knowledge of Macsteel products will be advantageous.
- Ability and willingness to learn new products and processes.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting, loading, and handling steel products.
- Comfortable climbing onto trailers to hook and unhook materials safely.
- Willing to multitask and work overtime when required.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Picking and packing stock into the correct storage locations.
- Assisting crane operators by slinging and packing materials for delivery.
- Loading and off-loading delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Supporting stock-taking and inventory activities.
- Ensuring correct product labels are placed on bundles for accurate identification.
- Maintaining cleanliness through regular sweeping and housekeeping.
- Assisting on various machines when requested by supervisors.
- Following company work standards, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Performing additional lawful duties assigned by management.
- Being available to work outside normal working hours when operationally required.
