Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent NQF qualification.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Experience in food retail or a customer service environment is advantageous.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and cold chain management.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and early mornings.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with product information, promotions, and suitable alternatives.
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked and products are correctly merchandised.
- Rotate stock to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cold chain standards.
- Identify damaged or expired products and manage returns appropriately.
- Keep the department clean, organised, and visually appealing.
- Follow merchandising standards, planograms, and housekeeping procedures.
- Help minimise shrinkage by reporting stock losses or suspicious activities.
- Promote new products and current promotions to customers.
- Attend team meetings and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming, hygiene, and punctuality.
