About the Role
The Casual Merchandiser will assist with maintaining store presentation, replenishing stock, supporting stock control processes, and ensuring customers receive friendly and professional service.
This role requires individuals who are organised, physically fit, and willing to work flexible retail hours.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Restocking merchandise to maximise product availability.
- Packing and storing stock correctly.
- Checking product expiry dates.
- Ensuring shelves remain fully stocked.
- Rotating stock using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
- Reporting damaged, expired, or low stock to management.
- Assisting with stock counts and stocktaking.
- Following Dis-Chem merchandising standards and store layouts.
- Maintaining accurate pricing and shelf labels.
- Building and maintaining merchandising displays.
- Keeping shelves and displays neat and attractive.
- Assisting with loading and off-loading stock.
- Marking products without barcodes.
- Assisting customers with product enquiries.
- Following up on out-of-stock requests.
- Helping train new employees when required.
- Maintaining store cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Following company policies and health and safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Up to 6 months of retail experience.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Willingness to work retail hours.
Advantageous Requirements
The following will be beneficial:
- At least one year of retail experience.
- Knowledge of merchandising standards.
- FMCG retail knowledge.
- Product and category knowledge.
- Ability to interpret ZMORE reports.
- Bilingual communication skills.
