About the Role
The Cleaner Level 2 position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the healthcare facility. Employees will clean patient wards, offices, corridors, and other hospital areas while supporting infection prevention measures and ensuring a safe environment for everyone within the facility.
The role requires physically fit individuals who can work independently as well as part of a team and who are willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and night duty when required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- ABET Level 4, Grade 10, Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification
- At least one year of cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment
- Good communication skills
- Ability to read and write
- Physical fitness to perform manual cleaning duties
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and night duty
- Honesty, reliability, and the ability to work well within a team
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform duties including:
Cleaning and Hygiene
- Clean floors, walls, and high- and low-level surfaces.
- Dust doors, door handles, lockers, beds, and furniture.
- Wash windows and window frames.
- Clean curtains and blinds.
- Maintain corridors and outdoor areas.
- Collect litter around wards and office areas.
- Clean refrigerators and microwave ovens.
- Wash cups and utensils used in wards.
Waste and Linen Management
- Remove waste according to hospital procedures.
- Unpack and pack clean linen in storerooms.
- Assist with linen handling where required.
Infection Prevention and Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Clean spillages immediately to prevent injuries.
- Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and responsibly.
- Report workplace defects to supervisors.
Ward Support
- Supply wards with:
- Hand soap
- Toilet paper
- Air fresheners
- Deodorising blocks
- Collect food and beverages from the kitchen for patients.
- Perform additional duties allocated by supervisors.
