About the Role
As a Plant Assistant, you will support daily depot operations involving fuel products, storage systems, and logistics activities. The role focuses on ensuring smooth handling, safety, and efficiency in the movement and storage of petroleum products.
You will work with various fuel types including petrol, diesel, and additives, while ensuring compliance with strict health, safety, and environmental standards (HSSEQ).
Minimum Requirements
To apply, you must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- At least 1 year experience in:
- Petrochemical environment OR
- Production / warehouse / industrial environment
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Logistics
- Measure and record tank levels and temperatures accurately
- Assist with offloading and decanting fuel products
- Prepare tanks and valves for product intake
- Support loading and unloading of bulk fuel trucks
- Work closely with Bulk Vehicle Operators (BVOs)
Administration & Customer Service
- Assist customers, contractors, and visitors at the depot
- Handle basic administrative duties related to depot services
- Ensure proper communication during shift handovers
Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Perform minor maintenance tasks under supervision
- Keep the depot clean and organised
- Maintain high housekeeping standards at all times
Health, Safety & Compliance (HSSEQ)
- Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Identify and report hazards, risks, and unsafe conditions
- Participate in:
- Emergency drills
- Safety inspections
- Risk reduction initiatives
- Ensure compliance with company and legal safety requirements
