About the Role
The Operator: Packing / Bin Crew is responsible for supporting packing operations, managing bin availability, and ensuring that bins and related equipment are cleaned, maintained, and operated according to safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
The role involves working closely with production teams to ensure smooth operations, adherence to standard operating procedures, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements. The position requires physical work, attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working at heights or in confined spaces.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Operating and monitoring packing machines to ensure safe, efficient, and quality product packing.
- Setting up machines and monitoring performance to maintain production standards.
- Coordinating the availability, cleaning, and readiness of finished product bins.
- Managing departmental safety and environmental controls in line with company policies.
- Ensuring mechanical hoists, block and tackle systems are operated according to certified design capacity and reporting any deviations.
- Executing daily bin cleaning plans, which may involve climbing into bins or lowering into bins using scaffolding, bucket seats, block and tackle, or mechanical hoists.
- Scraping, scouring, and brushing bin walls and hoppers using approved hand tools.
- Conducting fumigation of bins using approved insecticides, rodent deterrents, or fumigation agents, following defined procedures.
- Physically locking out bins during fumigation to ensure safety and compliance.
- Completing operational reports and maintaining accurate records of daily activities.
- Adhering to fumigation standards, quality control requirements, and quality assurance outcomes.
- Reporting non-conformances and participating in corrective actions where required.
- Applying good manufacturing practices (GMP) within the assigned work area.
- Ensuring hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Following all health and safety regulations and participating in safety-related meetings and InfoCom sessions.
- Participating in weekly and monthly stock counts, investigating variances, and implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
