SA Metal Group, a leading player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a Cashier to join its Pretoria operations. This role is suited to a highly organised, detail-oriented individual who is able to perform accurately in a fast-paced and pressurised environment.
Important: This position involves managing large volumes of cash under strict controls. Applicants must be able to work under sustained pressure. Candidates who are not comfortable in high-demand environments are advised not to apply.
Job Purpose
The Cashier will be responsible for handling cash payments accurately and efficiently, ensuring daily reconciliation, maintaining financial records, and supporting the cash office with administrative duties. The role requires strong numerical ability, accuracy, and excellent time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Making accurate and efficient payments to scrap suppliers
- Managing large cash receipts and cash payments
- Counting and reconciling cash on a daily basis
- Preparing and processing cash deposits
- Maintaining effective and efficient time management
- Filing and maintaining cash office documentation
- Assisting with ad-hoc administrative and operational tasks as required
- Ensuring strict adherence to internal financial controls and procedures
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant cashier or cash-handling experience
- Computer literacy, including MS Office, internet, and email
- Ability to process payments quickly and accurately
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of bulk cash counting machines will be an advantage
