Job Overview
VKB Grain (Simba) in Douglas is seeking a General Worker (Cleaner) to provide cleaning services and general assistance at the facility. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant working environment in line with health, food safety, and workplace standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for general housekeeping, cleanliness, and supporting operational requirements as needed.
Key Responsibilities
The General Worker (Cleaner) will be responsible for the following duties:
- Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping duties across the facility
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with health, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of work areas
- Carry out ad hoc duties as assigned by supervisors
- Ensure excellent service delivery at all times
- Act as a responsible team player and ambassador of the VKB Group
- Support general facility operations when required
- Ensure the workplace complies with occupational health and safety regulations
- Participate in all required training interventions and successfully complete training programmes
- Provide basic customer service where applicable
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade 10 qualification
- 1–2 years’ experience in a similar cleaning or general worker role
- Willingness to work overtime when required
- Clear criminal record
- Physically fit and able to perform manual duties
