The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of general warehouse and logistics duties, including stock handling, loading and offloading vehicles, housekeeping, and maintaining hygiene standards. This role plays an important part in supporting efficient stock movement and ensuring that Woodlands Dairy products are handled in line with company and industry standards.

Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the General Worker role is to support logistics and warehouse operations through the efficient handling of stock, maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene, and adherence to stock control principles. The role contributes directly to the effective functioning of the logistics depot by ensuring that products are stored, moved, and handled correctly and safely.
Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:
General Warehouse Duties
- Perform general labour duties within the logistics depot as required
- Pick stock accurately according to picking lists and operational instructions
- Assist with regular and ad hoc stock counts to ensure stock accuracy
Loading and Offloading
- Load and offload delivery vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensure products are handled carefully to prevent damage
- Support drivers and warehouse staff during dispatch and receiving processes
Stock Control and Rotation
- Apply a good understanding of FIFO (First In, First Out) and LIFO (Last In, First Out) principles
- Assist in ensuring correct stock rotation and storage practices
- Report any stock discrepancies or damaged goods to the relevant supervisor
Hygiene, Cleaning, and Housekeeping
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the warehouse and surrounding areas
- Perform cleaning duties in line with food safety and hygiene requirements
- Assist with waste control and disposal according to company procedures
Health and Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Use equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment correctly
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, or incidents to management
Teamwork and Operational Support
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, drivers, and fellow warehouse staff
- Follow instructions accurately and complete tasks within required timeframes
- Support operational needs as and when required
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for this position must meet the following requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) qualification
- Completion of SP2 (as required by the company)
- Reliable personal transport to and from the workplace
- A valid Code 08 driver’s licence (essential)
Advantageous Qualifications and Experience
The following will be considered advantageous but are not mandatory:
- A valid forklift licence
- Previous experience working in a warehouse, logistics, or production environment
- Basic knowledge or experience in health and safety practices
