🎯 Job Purpose
The Plastics Assistant, also known as the Assistant Injector Operator, plays a key supporting role in the production line. The main purpose of this position is to prepare raw materials, operate and maintain injection moulding machines, and ensure smooth, efficient, and safe production processes.
The role also involves assisting in start-up and shutdown procedures, cleaning and maintenance tasks, and adhering to company standards related to quality, food safety, and health & safety regulations.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities and Outputs
As a Plastics Assistant, you will support the production process from start to finish. Your duties will include:
1. Health, Safety, and Food Safety Compliance
- Always adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policies.
- Follow all Food Safety Standards to maintain product integrity.
- Report any issues related to the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) to the Food Safety Team immediately.
2. Material Preparation and Handling
- Get raw materials ready before production begins.
- Ensure that the vacuum system is ready for filling the hopper.
- Continuously fill the hopper with the correct materials to avoid production interruptions.
- Check that bags are clean, dry, and undamaged before use.
- Accurately record all material usage as part of production tracking.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Assist in start-up and shutdown procedures for the machines.
- Support mould size changes when required during production shifts.
- Ensure all machines are greased and maintained according to the maintenance schedule.
- Keep all equipment and the surrounding work area clean and organized at all times.
4. Warehouse and Production Flow
- When material cages are full, remove them promptly to the warehouse area.
- Replace them with new empty cages to ensure continuous production.
- Support the warehouse and production team to keep workflow efficient and uninterrupted.
5. General Duties
- Be prepared to carry out any lawful and reasonable instructions given by your supervisor.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward teamwork, cleanliness, and safety.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Skills and Attributes:

- Physically fit and able to work in a production environment.
