The role also requires using manual scanning as a backup to the automated system, maintaining consistency in stock management, and supporting the production team through timely reporting and data validation.

Purpose of the Job
The Data Capture Clerk ensures that all production and stock information is correctly processed within the company’s systems. The individual will be responsible for verifying and capturing data related to packaging, finished goods, and raw materials. The role involves close collaboration with Production Shift Managers and other departments to maintain accurate records and support the efficient flow of materials through the production process.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
- License: Valid Forklift Driver’s License.
- Experience:
- At least two years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
- At least two years of experience using Shopware or similar production data systems.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
- Working knowledge of the SmartTech system.
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organized, and safety-conscious.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Data Capture Clerk, your daily responsibilities will include the following:
- Production Data Management
- Track “Plan vs Actual” production figures and provide accurate feedback to Shift Production Managers.
- Capture production data into SmartTech and other systems promptly.
- Stock Control and Reporting
- Process SRVs (Stock Requisition Vouchers) for all packaging materials after each production run.
- Ensure physical stock movements match system transactions.
- Perform stock balancing, cycle counts, and assist with monthly stock takes.
- Generate and maintain M1 and M4 tags for each production shift.
- Adjust orders and stock levels as per COGI requirements.
- Quality and Waste Management
- Record end-of-shift waste figures and ensure all data is correctly logged.
- Coordinate rework of problem stock, ensuring the quality quarantine area remains tidy and compliant.
- Remove all non-conforming materials from the production area.
- Material Handling and Labelling
- Generate pull lists for material requirements per shift.
- Manage rotation of stock in the End of Run cupboards.
- Be able to change SU’s labeller reels and ribbons as required.
- System Accuracy and Documentation
- Check and correct storage location information for packaging materials and finished goods.
- Consolidate and submit WCM documentation (5Y’s, OPL, CI’s, EWO, etc.) to the WCM Department.
- Maintain accurate records on PAMCO sheets and ensure documentation is submitted on time.
